So I wore a hijab all day at school today. The IB Anthro class (which I am not in) was doing a social experiment/ promoting cultural tolerance as well as seeing what it is like to go for a day with your head covered. I thought it was a good idea, so one of the Muslim girls in my class let me wear one of her hijabs. She brought in quite a few to let people wear. I don’t know how to wrap a hijab, so she did it for me. I must say, I kind of like wearing it. It is very different but it really accentuates how beautiful people’s actual faces are by themselves. I would continue to wear it this weekend buut I will be at a church camp so that may not be a good idea.
Oh, also the girl who let me borrow this wore a niqab today, which covers her whole body except for her eyes. Another girl came up to her today (who wasn’t a Muslim, I may add) and told her that what she was wearing is offensive and that she shouldn’t be allowed to wear it at school. Even though it is a part of her culture/religion. This is why we need to educate people on different cultures and religions.
